A walk-off single from Eddie Newton brought home the winning run for the Santa Fe Fuego (17-7) in a 10-9 victory over the Las Vegas Train Robbers (10-18) in 12 innings at Fort Marcy Park on Friday.
Newton racked up four RBIs on four hits for the Santa Fe Fuego. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the third, sixth, and twelfth innings.
Each team blasted the others pitching, and there were 19 total runs and 30 hits during the game. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens in search of the win, as there were 13 pitchers used in the game.
Chevas Numata recorded his first win of the year for the Santa Fe Fuego. He struck out none, walked three and surrendered two hits.
Tyler Shannon was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed one run.
