Saturday was a great day for Louie Saenz, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Santa Fe Fuego (31-17) to a 21-4 victory over the Las Vegas Train Robbers (21-34) at Fort Marcy Park.
Saenz racked up eight RBIs on three hits for the Santa Fe Fuego. He homered in the first and eighth innings.
The Santa Fe Fuego continued to pile on the runs until the end of the game. The Santa Fe Fuego scored four runs in the last three innings to finish off the blowout win. The Santa Fe Fuego scored six runs in the sixth on the Santa Fe Fuego scored in the sixth on an RBI double by Ruben Rivera, a two-run home run by David Sandoval, an RBI single by Eddie Newton, and a two-run single by Chevas Numata.
Steven Taft reached base four times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the second inning.
Dalton Bernardi improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Santa Fe Fuego. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out seven, walked three and surrendered two hits.
Spencer Hotaling (2-5) was the games losing pitcher. He allowed 17 runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out six.
The Santa Fe Fuego easily handled the Las Vegas Train Robbers pitching as eight hitters combined for 21 hits, 21 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
